Giving Science the Attention it Deserves
COST Action Chairs and Vice Chairs who could not attend the science communication training course at Technopolis now have the chance to take part in a second edition at the Arctic Centre in Finland.
Communicating research is often as important as carrying it out. Policy makers, captains of industry, journalists, and current and future researchers are eager to find out about the latest discoveries.
COST already provides the financial tools to develop stronger networks. It recently set out to help Action Chairs make their research more visible to funding bodies, decision makers and their peers.
Working with Ecsite, the European Network of Science Centres and Museums, it provided this group with the most effective techniques to communicate scientific results. Participants learnt new ways to make complicated topics attractive to different audiences and get their message across.
Thanks to this unique partnership, the course will offer this group the best combination of competencies in scientific collaboration and communication. It will make their outreach strategy as effective as it can be and give their Action and themselves the visibility they need within the science community and beyond.
The Arctic Centre has been chosen as the location. This centre provides an insight into communicating contemporary and controversial science issues thanks to its unique position in the fragile Arctic landscape.
The second Advanced Science Communication training course for COST Action Chairs or Vice Chairs is taking place on 19 and 20 May at the Arctic Centre in Rovaniemi in Finland.
