John Ketchell, Director of Innovation and Business Development at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), took part in an active discussion at January’s COST seminar.
In the past year, both the Council of Ministers and the European Commission have stressed the importance of standardisation to help bring innovation to market acceptance.
Organisations such as CEN, CENELEC and ETSI are seeking to better their interfaces with research projects and other innovation programmes, and adapt their ways of working to improve innovative standards. This is an opportunity for CEN and a COST to voice their views. The session outlined the progress made so far and sought the views of seminar participants on other desirable improvements.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a business facilitator in Europe, removing trade barriers for European industry and consumers. Its mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens and the environment. Through its services it provides a platform for the development of European Standards and other technical specifications.
