External eventsFifth International Conference on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (AMN-5)2011 is a most auspicious year marking the 100th anniversary of the discovery of superconductivity, and 25 years since high temperature superconductivity was first observed. 2011 has also been chosen as the International Year of Chemistry. This is intended as a worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry and its contributions to the well-being of humankind. The Fifth International Conference on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (AMN-5) offered a broad interdisciplinary overview of advanced materials and nanotechnology, and provided an exciting forum to discuss new and exciting advances in the field.

They give public recognition to those researchers, engineers, professors, students and government officials in Europe who have done the most in 2010 to foster a culture of enterprise on campus. The awards culminate in a gala dinner and conference on academic enterprise.

SeminarsPromoting Research Integrity in EuropeThe COST Office kickstarted the 2011 COST Seminar series by looking at a matter of worldwide concern: Research Integrity. At the Second World Conference on this topic, a key outcome was the agreement to the Singapore Statement which sets out 4 principles and 14 responsibilities which should be followed by researchers worldwide. Tony Mayer and Professor Nicholas H. Steneck, Co-Chairs of the First and Second World Conferences on Research Integrity, presented the Singapore Statement and Laura Marin, Science Officer at the European Science Foundation, introduced the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. They discussed how to promote research integrity to the highest level throughout. |
