Academic Enterprise Awards Europe

The ACES, now in their third year, are the only pan-European awards for enterprise in university and public research institutes. They give public recognition to those researchers, engineers, professors, students and government officials in Europe who have done the most in 2010 to foster a culture of enterprise on campus. The awards culminate in a gala dinner and conference on academic enterprise.

Promoting Research Integrity in Europe

The COST Office kickstarted the 2011 COST Seminar series by looking at a matter of worldwide concern: Research Integrity. At the Second World Conference on this topic, a key outcome was the agreement to the Singapore Statement which sets out 4 principles and 14 responsibilities which should be followed by researchers worldwide. Tony Mayer and Professor Nicholas H. Steneck, Co-Chairs of the First and Second World Conferences on Research Integrity, presented the Singapore Statement and Laura Marin, Science Officer at the European Science Foundation, introduced the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity. They discussed how to promote research integrity to the highest level throughout.
