ISCH supports the development of knowledge and insights for citizens, democratic debate and decision-making in the public, private and voluntary spheres.

Interdisciplinary topics linking social science/humanities perspectives with the natural, medical and engineering sciences are particularly welcomed by this Domain, provided that the social science/humanities aspect is predominant.

In 2007, the Council of Europe decided that each year there should be a special day dedicated to Data Protection. 28 January is the fourth time that countries across Europe set out to increase awareness of the rights and responsibilities of service providers and users to protect personal data.
